Kiyoshi Restaurant @ 75 Amoy Street (Dine-In/Takeway/Delivery)

Kiyoshi Japanese Restaurant is a family-styled restaurant specializing in Inaniwa udon, yakitori, sushi and affordable bento sets. Have tried one of their affordable bento set and some yakitori, so I was excited to be able to try their signature noodles. If you like the chewiness of Japanese udon and prefers thinner strands of noodles, Inaniwa udon (稲庭うどん) would be the perfect choice.

The signage was easily spotted and all guests are required to have their temperature taken and the usual Safe-Entry checked-in.

The place was well-lit and spacious. Counter seats, booth seats and normal table seats are available.

Let's start with some hot green tea. It was fun to get different designs of the tea cups. I got the fish cup, there's one with sushi and another of daruma.

saw this design in Japan before!

can you see daruma design at the back?

Ok, can't blame me for being slightly excited after staying at home for a long long while.

Started the meal with Beef Kinoko Salada with Carpaccio Dressing. Oooh, it was like the gyudon beef but on a bed of greens instead of rice! Loved the beef.

Beef Kinoko Salada with Carpaccio Dressing @$12.80

Next up, Tekka Tataki. The sauce for this was slightly more prominent (probably due to the direct contact with the tuna). Enjoyable and light tasting.

Tekka Tataki @$14.80

If you're having sake or beer, let's order a some deep fried salmon skin and a platter of yakitori to go along with the drinks! Plus, don't forget to order the tamago yaki!

The salmon skin was definitely crunchy! The next table probably can hear it from over there. Ok, maybe not. I wouldn't mind a bit more salt to the salmon skin. Otherwise, a dipping sauce with mayo is also provided.

Deep fried Salmon Skin @$6.80

My favourite item from the yakitori platter would be the tsukune. Large in size and also in taste. Lovely soft texture as well.

Tsukune @$3, Chicken Yakitori @$2, Ebi Mentaiyaki @$4 and Shishamo @$1.80

For fans of maki, I'd totally recommend the Special Salmon Mentai Roll. Generous amount of mentaiko cream which I can't get enough of! Not too salty and very tasty. Love that the deep fried shrimp batter remained crunchy, and that was a blast of contrast in texture!

Special Maki - Salmon Mentai Roll @$12.80

I know I'd want this till the last bite. No paiseh piece here!

good till the last bite

Now, are you ready for the noodles? Let's start with the classic Tempura Zaru Udon, which is basically chilled udon served with dipping sauce and tempura. The tempura selection included prawns, mushroom, sweet potato , pumpkin and enoki mushrooms. The sweet potato was indeed sweet!

Pro-tip: Don't leave the udon out for too long! Best consumed as soon as it was served.

Tempura Zaru Udon @$18.80

Next was the Aburi Salmon Salad Udon. The sauce was already at the bottom of the bowl, so just mix well before digging in! The noodles has a lovely chewy texture to it and this combination was refreshingly light on the palate. Suitable for those who prefers something healthier tasting.

Aburi Salmon Salad Udon @$18.80

If you are all about flavours and texture, the most popular udon bowl would be the Tem Chirashi Udon. Tempura of bite-sized items such as avocado slices, cherry tomato, mushrooms and even scallops, are scattered ontop of the bowl and topped with onsen egg. What do we do when we see wobbly eggs? We popped 'em! Coat the noodles with the yolk and swirl them around before catching it into your mouth. Mmmm, yummy!

Tem Chirashi Udon @$16.80

I liked mine with a dab of wasabi. Try it.

Kiyoshi Restaurant offers a nice, comfortable ambiance for dine-in with fresh ingredients prepared using contemporary approach. If you are dining at the restaurant, there's sake available too!

Thank you Jennifer for the invite and Kiyoshi Restaurant for the meal.

Kiyoshi Restaurant @ 75 Amoy Street (Available for Takeaway/Delivery)

Kiyoshi きよし Restaurant is a Japanese izakaya (居酒屋) that now offers takeaway/online delivery services.

Recently tried their reasonably priced bento set and a few side dishes. Sushi Moriawase had 5 pieces of sushi (tamago, ebi, hotate, unagi and sake), 3 pieces of maki, 3 slices of salmon and blanched spinach with mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. Loved the gari (pickled ginger) and the pickled radish in the bento set. Plenty of wasabi, but they forgot the shoyu!

Sushi Moriawase @$19.80+
start with the vege
my favourite was the scallop sushi!
wished it was thicker!
love the crunch from the ikura

Let's try some side dishes besides sushi! A must order in any Japanese restaurant, is the tamago yaki. Best eaten when freshly cooked. But often times, most restaurants serve it cold.

Tamago Yaki @$4.80

The tamago felt more like a dessert as it was leaning on the sweeter side. Still enjoyable nonetheless. The tebasaki chicken wings were skinny. Marinade was flavourful and had a hint of alcohol. Unfortunately, it arrived cold and hard. I guessed that I should probably heat this up before eating but I was hungry!

tebasaki @$2.80 per stick (from yakitori menu)

Thank you Jennifer for arranging the sampler set and Kiyoshi for the meal.

Happy to know that one of the dish that I had missed the most since the first visit, the flavourful Salt Baked Flower Crab is included in the delivery menu! Yay! Will have it for the next round, maybe with one of the affordable bottles. Hehe! At the moment, am also awaiting for their classic KL Hokkien Noodles to be included. Then, it'll be an order to reminisce the classics.

Thank you Jennifer from JY Consultancy for arranging the delivery this time round.

At the moment, one could enjoy additional 10% off for takeaways and 20% off for delivery till 27 May 2020. For delivery, there is a minimum order of $50 to fulfill. Note that there will be additional delivery surcharges from their delivery partner for orders during PH or PH weekends.

Here's a video of the food:

For food that are 'saucy' like the fish head curry, it was evident that extra care was put in place to prevent spillage. Lovely and shows that the restaurant is considerate towards their diners. Thank you!

carefully packed
Traditional Fish Head Curry 亚参鱼头 @$28+/$50+ (half/whole)

Would recommend the Traditional Fish Head Cury. Am impressed with the sauce. Lemak, rich and with a nice spicy punch. The half a head was meaty and fed 2 pax adequately. If there are leftover sauce, it'll make a nice dip for bread too!

I was having a zoom dinner session with my colleagues and showed them the charcoal tofu. They were rather curious about the taste and it made me realize that not many have tried this before! The tofu was well-fried and it was still beautifully intact when arrived. However, the enoki mushrooms can't be compared with dine-in as it had turned soggy. I liked the light savoury sweet sauce for the tofu.

Charcoal Beancurd with Enoki Mushroom 金针菇黑炭豆腐 @$16+

The Salted Egg Yolk Prawn with Italian Sauce had a curious name. Like, what's an Italian Sauce doing in a zhichar dish! Hahahaa. I think the Italian sauce here is the Golden Sand sauce that we usually see for the crab dishes. Truth be told, I thought it was just a thicker version of salted egg yolk sauce.

Salted Egg Yolk Prawn with Italian Sauce 金沙香草虾球 @$27+

Venison with Ginger & Scallion 姜葱鹿肉 @$18+

An enjoyable meal of zichar favourites. If you can take spicy, go for the Traditional Curry Fish Head.

Thank you Jennifer and The Famous Kitchen for the meal.

Let's support local businesses and if you opt for delivery, there's a 20% discount from 18 to 27 May 2020 and for takeaway, there's 10% off at the moment! NUDE Seafood - Surprise Birthday Treat from Friends

My friends sent me some food today from NUDE Seafood, so here are the photos. Most impressed with the careful packaging for the burger. The homemade yoghurt bun seemed light but pretty filling in da tummy. The burger patty was a tad too pink for my liking, but it was surely moist and juicy! Expect messy drips of the srirachi aoili. Suggest to share this with a friend or family, as it may be a tad too much for one pax. Ideally, to pair it with a glass of wine or ice cold beer.

There was also the Signature Hickory-smoked Salmon, which I've tried before. This time round, it came with black forbidden rice and grilled cauliflower.

thank you, my friends!

[MHR] Experiencing the Takeaway/Delivery from Grissini @ Grand Copthorne Waterfront

Read about the promotion where all diners get 20% off and My Millennium members get a whopping 25% off takeaway or delivery from MHR F&B here. To order, access this link: https://bit.ly/2KfguBL

yay to delivery!

There is an ongoing Facebook contest currently where you may get a chance to win 20K My Millennium points worth $100. Click here to access. Psst, just need to follow the steps described there!

Let's see what I've got from Grissini, one of my favourite F&B at Grand Copthorne Waterfront. To start, let's try the Burrata Pugliese. Ahhh, Puglia is Chef Mirko's hometown!

Burrata Pugliese @$19

Loved the fresh burrata with the heritage tomatoes and arugula. Mild, creamy and light to taste.

There's soup too. Mushroom veloute that had various types of mushrooms including button, porcini and oyster mushrooms. With a dash of parsley oil. It was lukewarm due to the long journey to reach my home, so it went into the microwave for a short while. The soup was tasty, hearty and thick!

Wild Mushroom Veloute @$11

Next, one must not forget to order the pizza from Grissini. An absolute favourite! Best if it was eaten right at the restaurant, but nevertheless, thankful to be able to enjoy this treat at home too. This time round, tried the Regina Margherita. It didn't look like it had a lot of mozzarella but boy, it was bubbling once the square went inside the toaster! Its crust was super thin and crunchy, and those toppings were such a joy to have! Lovely.

Regina Margherita @$19

Next up, given a choice of Norwegian Salmon and Roasted New Zealand Ribeye, what would be your choice?

I choose...both! Or rather, I shared both with my family. So half-and-half, it shall be! I must say, the price of the mains are really reasonable. Thick, slab of beautiful salmon for just $19? Wow!

Salmon @$19

The accompanying vegetables were delish! Those roasted baby potatoes, sauteed spinach, grilled cauliflower and asparagus were yums. The fish was cooked through though I'd prefer it to be slightly pink but its flavours were on point! Lovely oils too. Oh, and did I mention the roasted sweet tomatoes were literally bursting with flavours?

Roasted New Zealand Ribeye @$27

The vegetables sides for both the salmon and ribeye were the same. The beef portion was good and wow, the first few bites were unbelievably tender even though it was a long journey from Chef's kitchen to Yew Tee. I was impressed!

Roasted New Zealand Ribeye (half-portion)

'aint this pretty?

A good meal makes one feels pampered. Thank you Grand Copthorne Waterfront and Grissini, especially to Chef Mirko and team, and of course, Gilbert for arranging the takeaway/delivery service.

For dessert, I enjoyed Chef's Signature Tiramisu. Though I had it one day later, it was so good. Especially when I missed having dessert like this!

Chef's Signature Tiramisu
yummy!
so fast?!!

Order now and the meal comes with a complimentary care package consisting of a game to enjoy with family. Mine was five stones! You know, the traditional game. Here's a video to illustrate or read here.

Enjoy Eating House And Bar 享受热食饮料 - Delivery

Was searching for food to be delivered for a small birthday celebration for the bro. Embracing the call for #stayhome and was searching via Feastbump website for restaurants that's onboard the delivery wagon. Didn't want to get from Foodpanda nor Deliveroo as these two platforms only had limited choices for CCK/Yew Tee area.

Saw "Enjoy Eating House and Bar" and thought it sounded familiar. True enough, this place was featured in NOC's Food King series under the title "Food King Singapore: Legendary Zi Char to Try in 2019!".

Ahhh, ok. Let's try to order! Very simple to place the order, and I was a bit kiasu so placed it a day earlier (around 10pm) for next day lunch time delivery. Paid and received email acknowledgement to state that it was pending completion of the payment. And, order confirmation via email came after that within the same day. Cool.

Delivery was prompt and on-time. Thank you for the safe delivery! I ordered the two dishes that Ryan and Dee Kosh liked and was impressed with, while the other two dishes was to make up the minimum order of $50. So, there was the "Grandma's Te Kah Bee Hoon", "Chef Joel's Mee Kia" (the recommended dishes). Wasabi Prawns and Har Jeong Gai (Prawn Paste Chicken).

lunch spread from Enjoy Eating House

Hey, prawn is an auspicious dish right? So, wishing my bro lots of laughter with this prawns dish. The crystal prawns were plump and varying sizes. However, the meat was a tad too cooked. Probably due to the longer time it sat inside the container for delivery. Sauce was leaning to the sweeter side with the cubed mangoes and mayo.

Prawns in Wasabi Mayo Sauce 芥末蛋黄明虾 @$17.80

The Har Jeong Kai wings, has the adequate fragrance but on hindsight, it won't be something that I'd order again, especially for delivery. By the time it reaches the customer, the wings would've turned soggy, and the oily-ness was even more apparent. Loved the shrimp paste smell, and the well marinated meat but best eaten fresh off the fryer.

ENJOY “Har Jeong Kai” Wings 虾酱炸中翅 @$11.80

How about the mee kia, did the noodles turn soggy? Well, the noodles were softer than desired but still ok.

Chef Joel's Mee Kia is an upmarket-fied version of mee kia with the inclusion of truffle onsen egg, crab meat and pork cheeks.

Chef Joel’s Mee Kia 总厨幼面 @$11.80
lardo bits and pork cheeks!

The 'liao' (ingredients) were of generous portions. At least 6 to 7 pieces of sliced pork cheeks in there! The truffle on the sous vide egg was really mild, and the pork cheeks were of a firm chew.

mee kia

Was most happy with the bee hoon. Will recommend the bee hoon. Take my money $$! But warning first. This dish is of strong flavours.

Grandma’s “Te Kah” Bee Hoon 招牌猪脚米粉 @$12.80
look at those skin~

All the things that you ever wanted in this dish; wok hei, delicious flavours, collageny skin and good portions of lean meat that's tender but still with a good bite? It's all there. Thank you, ah ma.

Overall, good prices for these bar food and efficiently prompt delivery service. Keep up the good work, guys!
